“I didn’t know who was in front of me still, whether or not we made it,”
and added,
“All the guys started going nuts on the radio. I want to say hi to Trish and the kids at home. I can’t believe we’re here based on our night and the way that it went.”
While Mears emerged eighth, Chandler Smith and LaJoie finished 16th and 19th, respectively. This result marks Mears’s return to the Daytona 500 for the first time since 2019, driving for Garage 66.
