Chase Briscoe Reveals Mindblowing Differences in NASCAR Car Comparison

Chase Briscoe, now driving for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), recently shared insights about the striking contrasts between his current car and the one he drove previously at Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) during a conversation with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the Dale Jr. Download podcast. Briscoe highlighted the significant improvements he experienced with JGR’s Toyota Camry, emphasizing the vehicle’s superior speed and handling.

Briscoe entered NASCAR’s Cup Series in 2021 with Stewart-Haas Racing, driving the #14 Ford Mustang after debuting in the Xfinity Series with the same team in 2020. Following SHR’s decision to cease Cup Series operations after the 2024 season, Briscoe transitioned to Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2025 season, where he now races the #19 Toyota.

Reflecting on this change, Briscoe praised the Toyota Camry’s better grip and faster performance. He explained:

“I thought when I came here they were gonna drive exactly the same. And even Bell, I remember him saying, ‘Oh yeah, it’s gonna drive just like what you’re used to.’ You’re just gonna go faster. I’m like, what you have no idea what I was driving before… It has more grip, it turns better, and it goes faster. It’s unbelievable. Just doesn’t feel bound up. It just has a way better. It literally feels like you’re on sticker tires versus like Kansas.” —Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing driver

Briscoe further illustrated the difference by referencing his experience at Kansas Speedway during his time with SHR, explaining that his handling limitations there made it impossible to maintain throttle through certain turns on fresh tires. In contrast, in the JGR car, he can almost run at full throttle around the track, noting:

“This is a great example. At Kansas at SHR, I could not run a single lap where I didn’t come all the way out of the gas and turn one and two on stickers anytime from lap 30 to 40 on tires. I’m carrying more throttle in a JGR car than I could in an SHR car. I can almost run day dang near wide open all the way around when it’s on stickers. It’s mind-blowing, and I feel like that’s where qualifying is like. That’s been the big thing is even at SHR, I feel like we qualify, really good but we’d be, say, six to 10, so people don’t really notice how good we’re really qualifying. We’re now the car just has so much more capability it ends up being, fastest.” —Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing driver

In an interview with FrontStretch Media, he shared his aspiration to demonstrate his true abilities now that he believes he is in a better car than ever before.

Speaking openly about his motivation, Briscoe stated:

“Hopefully. I don’t know. I feel like I get overlooked a lot of the time, but I hopefully will be able to kind of earn the respect of a lot of guys, not, you know, not even not all the drivers, but it’s everybody, you know, like I was capable of doing it.” —Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing driver

This determination reflects Briscoe’s intent to capitalize on the improved performance capabilities of his JGR car and elevate his standing in the NASCAR community.

Implications for Briscoe’s NASCAR Future with Joe Gibbs Racing

Chase Briscoe’s remarks underscore the crucial impact of equipment on racing dynamics and driver confidence. The transition from Stewart-Haas Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing has provided him with a substantial boost in car performance, notably with the Toyota Camry’s enhanced grip and handling.

As Briscoe continues to adapt to the faster, more capable JGR vehicle, expectations for his performance this season and beyond remain high. His candid reflections on feeling overlooked reveal a deeper drive that may push him to further successes, potentially improving his rankings and visibility among peers and fans.
