Chase Briscoe Plans to Make Son Fourth-Generation Racing Star

Chase Briscoe, a current NASCAR Cup Series driver, is determined to extend his family’s deep-rooted legacy in racing by preparing his three-year-old son, Brooks, to become a fourth-generation driver. The Mitchell, Indiana native’s passion for the sport stems from a multi-generational involvement, making the Chase Briscoe racing family legacy a significant part of his life.

Besides his career on the track, Briscoe is a devoted husband to Marissa and father to Brooks, as well as nearly one-year-old twins Cooper Banks and Collins Ivy. His family remains central to his motivation both on and off the racing circuit.

The Roots of Racing in the Briscoe Family

Briscoe’s introduction to racing can be traced back to his grandfather, who began owning sprint and dirt cars in the 1970s, creating a foundation that his father carried forward for more than two decades. This long-standing connection to motorsports formed the backbone of Briscoe’s own racing ambitions.

So my grandpa started owning sprint cars, dirt cars in the ’70s, my dad raced for 20 something years,

Chase said in an interview with TV station KCTV. He added that spending his childhood at racetracks naturally fostered his desire to become part of that world.

Despite his father’s initial reluctance about Chase pursuing racing, Briscoe’s persistence paid off.

My dad wanted nothing to do with me racing, and [I] just continued to beg him and wear him out and eventually got an opportunity to do it.

After high school, Briscoe relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, dedicating himself fully to the sport. As he explained,

Moved to Charlotte, North Carolina straight out of high school and slept on a (friend’s) couch for three and a half years and would just volunteer at all these different race shops, and eventually got an opportunity and it just spiraled from there.

Honoring and Expanding a Family Legacy in NASCAR

Reflecting on his family’s rich history in racing, Briscoe emphasized how special it is to carry on the Briscoe name in motorsports. He noted that neither his grandfather nor his father could have envisioned the reach and impact their passion would have in the Cup Series today.

It’s certainly special just being able to carry on the Briscoe name in some form or fashion in motorsports. I already have an (almost) four-year-old son that is super involved in racing and just loves it and eats it up. So yeah, I’m sure he’ll be a fourth-generation and carry on that history for our family.

Valuing Respect and Character Alongside Racing Skills

One of the most important lessons Briscoe learned from his elders, and one he is teaching his children, is to treat others with respect. He acknowledges that his own experiences have shown that maintaining good character can have a positive, lasting impact on life and career.

That’s something that’s been super important to me, to pass on to my kids now, to show them to treat everybody with respect. Their world is totally different than the world that I obviously grew up in. So, just trying to do that, that’s the most important thing,

Briscoe shared.

Upcoming Challenges and Goals in This NASCAR Season

As Briscoe prepares for Saturday’s annual night race at Bristol Motor Speedway, the final event in the PlayoffsRound of 16, his family will either attend in person or support him from home. His recent victory at Darlington secured his place in the next stage, the Round of 12, beginning next week.

Briscoe is currently second in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, trailing his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin, who earned his fifth victory of the season at Gateway. Maintaining strong playoff and stage points remain crucial for Briscoe’s championship hopes.

Briscoe’s No. 19 Toyota Camry will be sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, which also supports the Bristol race. He explained the added significance:

Any time your main sponsor is sponsoring the race, it’s of extra importance and do the best we can,

and he expressed optimism to build momentum heading into New Hampshire, the first race of the Round of 12.

Looking Ahead: Aiming for Consistency and a Championship

Focusing on the final eight weeks of the season, Briscoe has set a clear goal for himself and his team.

We have eight weeks left in our season and if we can put eight really, really solid weeks together, then we feel like we can be the champion. So that’s what we’re trying to do.

The upcoming races will be critical as he seeks to maximize his performance and bring the championship within reach.
