Dennis Hauger, a Norwegian driver with experience in Formula 2 racing for Prema and MP Motorsport within the Red Bull Junior Academy, is embarking on his first IndyCar season with Dale Coyne Racing. Having won the IndyNXT championship with Andretti Global by securing six victories out of 14 races, Hauger is eager to build on that success as he begins his journey in IndyCar.
Why IndyCar Matches Hauger’s Driving Style
During a pre-season press conference, Hauger discussed how the style of American single-seater racing suits him better than his previous stints in Formula 3, Formula 2, and Formula 1. He pointed out that the driving demands and car setup in IndyCar feel more natural to him, allowing more freedom to maneuver through corners and control the car’s balance.
He elaborated,
“I would say it’s just a very different driving style compared to F3, F2 and F1 – so coming over to IndyNX, there was really a breath of fresh air for me.”
Hauger also emphasized the lighter feel of the IndyNXT car, which helped him quickly adapt and perform strongly. Regarding the heavier IndyCar vehicles, he remarked,
“Obviously the IndyCar as well, it’s a heavier car but you can still move around and wrestle it a bit, which I enjoy and push towards the balance that I enjoy – hopefully that’s going to be the case for the rest of the season.”
Reflecting on the transition from European racing series to American circuits, he said,
“That was the biggest difference for me, coming from Europe to the US.”

Looking Ahead to the Upcoming Season
At the time of writing, Dale Coyne Racing has not yet announced Hauger’s teammate for the season. The IndyCar campaign is set to begin on March 1 at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida. With Hauger’s determination and driving style well aligned to the IndyCar format, many expect him to make a significant impact as he adapts to the new series.
This move marks an important step in Hauger’s career, illustrating his ability to adjust to different racing environments and maintain a competitive edge. As the season unfolds, his performance will be closely watched by fans and teams alike, given his impressive record and promising start in American open-wheel racing.
