Enea Bastianini Nears 2027 MotoGP Deal Amid Market Shakeup

The 2027 MotoGP rider market is rapidly taking shape even before the start of the 2026 season, with significant shifts affecting many competitors. Among them, Enea Bastianini is expected to finalize his 2027 contract soon, signaling a critical moment in his career amid a turbulent market.

Bastianini, who left the Ducati Lenovo Team, currently races for Tech3 KTM in 2025, hoping to regain form and momentum. Initially, many anticipated he would join Aprilia Racing beside Marco Bezzecchi in 2027. However, unexpected news of Francis Bagnaia’s potential long-term deal with Aprilia—possibly extending through 2030—has disrupted plans and closed the factory door to Bastianini.

Bastianini Acknowledges Pressure as Opportunities Narrow

Following the tests at Buriram, Bastianini openly spoke about the tense atmosphere surrounding contract decisions. Addressing the situation, he told Sky Sports Italy,

« Say The market is going through a difficult period right now, pretty much for everyone, I think.I will make my choice soon, and I am sure it will be the right one.

The market is moving unusually fast, with many rider placements being decided well before the usual mid-season timeline. Traditionally, seat negotiations stretch across numerous race weekends in Europe, but this year shifts are happening during preseason and early races.

Notably, Marc Marquez is expected to remain with Ducati, while Peter Acosta may leave KTM for a factory seat. Many factory rosters are now firmly established, and even satellite teams are confirming their line-ups early.

Bastianini Identifies Early Market Decisions as Key to Securing His Future

Bastianini himself notes how this season’s market has accelerated beyond past patterns:

“In my opinion, this year the market developed much earlier than usual. Normally, we expect five or six races, but this year I think that in two or three races, most of the drivers will already have secured their place.”

He pointed to the upcoming United States Grand Prix in March as a likely time when most agreements will be settled.

For Bastianini, the stakes are complicated by his loss of factory status and his current role at Tech3. That team was meant to serve as a platform for revival, yet without a clear contract secured for 2027, he risks becoming overshadowed permanently by satellite riders.

Committing “soon” is essential to prevent doors from closing. In a market evolving as swiftly as this, hesitation could jeopardize his position entirely.

Bastianini is keenly aware: in this accelerated MotoGP environment, delays may lead to disappearance from top-tier opportunities.
