Garrett Mitchell, known online as Cleetus McFarland, is preparing to make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Daytona International Speedway next week, according to an announcement by Niece Motorsports on February 5. He will drive the No. 5 truck sponsored by Black Rifle Coffee Company in this highly anticipated event.
Before officially racing, Mitchell is scheduled to test a truck at Rockingham Speedway on February 10, with his participation awaiting NASCAR’s final approval.
Niece Motorsports Builds Strong Lineup for Daytona Race
Mitchell joins a competitive team that includes full-time driver Andres Perez and part-time Truck Series racers Travis Pastrana and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. This combination of talent aims to showcase Niece Motorsports’ strength at Daytona. Mitchell brings prior racing experience from the ARCA Menards Series, having competed in four races in 2025 for Rette Jones Racing and earned two top-10 finishes. He plans to continue a part-time ARCA schedule in 2026, including additional races at Daytona.
Mitchell’s Perspective on Stepping Into NASCAR
Reflecting on this milestone, Mitchell stated,
“I’ve been lucky to drive a lot of really cool stuff, but Daytona in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck is a whole new level.”
He added,
“This is my first time in the series, so I know it’s going to push me way outside my comfort zone, and that’s what makes it so exciting. I’m incredibly grateful to have partners like Black Rifle Coffee Company, BRUNT and Niece Motorsports backing us every step of the way. We’re going to go have some fun and see what this thing can do.”
Significance and What Lies Ahead for Mitchell
Garrett Mitchell’s entry into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series represents a key step in his racing career, as he transitions from ARCA competition to a higher level of motorsports. With strong support from his team and sponsors, his debut at Daytona can open doors for further opportunities in NASCAR. Fans and industry watchers will be eager to see how well Mitchell adapts and performs at this iconic speedway, which could shape his racing trajectory in the coming seasons.
