At the Singapore Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar and Fernando Alonso engaged in an intense on-track battle that drew sharp reactions from both drivers. The showdown highlighted the tension between Hadjar and the two-time world champion as they fought hard for position amid technical challenges and fierce competition.
After a slow pit stop sent Alonso’s Aston Martin down to 15th place, he staged a strong comeback, climbing to seventh. However, Alonso became frustrated when he found himself stuck behind Hadjar for several laps, as the Racing Bulls driver was managing an engine issue. Alonso’s irritation was clear when he sarcastically called Hadjar “the hero of the race” over team radio.
Hadjar Responds to Alonso’s Criticism
Despite finishing just outside the points in 11th place, Hadjar dismissed Alonso’s frustration, responding calmly to the Spaniard’s complaints. He insisted that his driving was fair and clean, pushing back against Alonso’s remarks by calling him “grumpy.”
I mean, I didn’t push him off the track. I kept it clean,
Hadjar stated.
If he didn’t enjoy that fight, then he’s really grumpy and there’s nothing I can do for him.
Alonso’s Emotive Team Radio Moments and Post-Race Reflection
Alonso’s race featured several dramatic moments over team radio, including a profanity-laden outburst directed at Lewis Hamilton, following Hamilton’s brake failure while driving his Ferrari. Hamilton initially finished ahead of Alonso in seventh place but received a five-second penalty for multiple track limits violations. This penalty elevated Alonso to seventh and dropped Hamilton to eighth.

After the race, Alonso offered a more measured view regarding his battle with Hadjar, acknowledging the challenges both faced on track.
I think he had a little bit of an engine problem, from what I understood, on the straights – he was slow,
Alonso explained.
Sometimes, some battles you need to know when it’s better to fight, when it’s not, because probably the final result of the race could be worse for both for sure – but for him in particular.
So yeah, I think some unnecessary risk, but I understand that this is Singapore and you need to fight hard, and he did his best, but we lost time for sure.
Alonso addressed Hadjar’s comment about him being “grumpy,” responding diplomatically to the media. He noted that while some of Hadjar’s defensive moves at 300 km/h were borderline in the demanding Singapore streets, no contact was made and the racing remained fair.
They have a very fast car, they don’t have many points, so it’s more their problem.
Alonso added.
The Impact of the Singapore Duel on the Race and Rivalries
The clash between Isack Hadjar and Fernando Alonso underscored the intense rivalries and high stakes present at the Singapore Grand Prix. Alonso’s determination to regain lost ground and Hadjar’s resilience despite technical setbacks shaped the race dynamics. Their encounter highlighted not only their competitive spirits but also the delicate balance drivers must maintain between aggression and caution on such a challenging street circuit.
As the season progresses, battles like the one between Hadjar and Alonso are set to influence team strategies and driver mindsets, with every position and point carrying significant weight in the championship race. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how these clashes evolve in future Grands Prix.
