Jack Doohan consoled by Mick Doohan after Miami GP exit amid Alpine seat uncertainty

Jack Doohan faced a harsh setback at the Miami Grand Prix when an incident on the very first lap forced him out of the race, leaving the young racer visibly disappointed. His father and motorsport legend, Mick Doohan, was spotted consoling him shortly after the crash, offering support during a tense moment that highlighted the fragile position Jack holds within the Alpine team. The incident involved a collision with Liam Lawson’s Racing Bull, which resulted in damage and a puncture that ended Doohan’s race prematurely.

Reported by Sky F1’s Ted Kravitz, the scene in the paddock showed Mick Doohan trying to lift his son’s spirits after a frustrating race that lasted barely half a lap. Kravitz noted,

“Jack Doohan was very disappointed because he only lasted half a lap. Incident with a Racing Bull, and then damage and then got a puncture and out.”

The emotional toll was evident as his place in the team remains uncertain, despite the recent diminished threat of Alpine’s reserve driver, Franco Colapinto.

As the pressure mounts, Alpine intends to replace Jack Doohan with Colapinto for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in two weeks, according to circulating reports. The speculation was fueled further when a sponsor of Colapinto hinted at his imminent debut for Alpine at Imola. While the team has refrained from confirming these claims, Alpine executive Flavio Briatore has openly stated that the young driver was expected to deliver results or risk being dropped midseason. Since joining Alpine, Doohan has yet to score a point, contrasting with teammate Pierre Gasly, who has managed to score only in Bahrain and during the Miami GP sprint.

This incident and the looming threat of replacement underline the high stakes within Formula 1, where performance pressure is relentless. Jack Doohan’s early exit from Miami and the doubts hovering over his Alpine future create a tense atmosphere, revealing how quickly fortunes can shift and how vital resilience will be for the young driver moving forward.
