Pierre Gasly Bio
Pierre Jean-Jacques Gasly (born 7 February 1996 in Rouen, France) is a French racing driver who competes in Formula One for Alpine. He drives car number 10 and is best known for his 2020 Italian Grand Prix victory with AlphaTauri, the first win for a French driver in Formula One since 1996.
Born and raised in Normandy, Gasly began competitive kart racing at the age of ten and climbed through the junior single-seater ladder with the support of the Red Bull Junior Team. As of the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, he has recorded one race win, five podium finishes, and three fastest laps in Formula One.
Early Life and Background
Pierre Jean-Jacques Gasly was born on 7 February 1996 in Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France, to father Jean-Jacques Gasly and mother Pascale. He is the youngest of five children, with four half-brothers: Nicolas Caron and Cyril Caron from his mother’s previous marriage, and Phillipe Gasly and Paul Gasly from his father’s previous marriage. He was raised Christian and continues to make the sign of the cross before races.
Motorsport runs deep in the Gasly family. His grandfather competed in karting, his grandmother was a karting champion, and his father Jean-Jacques raced in karting, endurance events, and rallying before stepping away from rallying following an off-road incident. Pierre first sat in a kart at a local track in Anneville-Ambourville at the age of six, and by thirteen he had left Rouen for Le Mans to pursue competitive racing.
Gasly grew up alongside the late Anthoine Hubert, karting with him from the age of seven, attending the same private school, and sharing a flat for several years. He has been close friends with Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon since childhood, although his relationship with Ocon became strained during their karting years. In 2019, he relocated to Milan, and besides French he speaks Italian and English.

Early Career (2011–2013)
Gasly moved into single-seaters in 2011, contesting the French F4 Championship 1.6-litre category with the FFSA Academy. He finished third overall behind future Eurocup rivals Matthieu Vaxivière and Andrea Pizzitola, taking seven podiums that included wins at Spa, Albi, and Le Castellet.

Red Bull Promotion and Demotion (2019)
For 2019, Gasly was promoted to Red Bull Racing alongside Max Verstappen. In 2024, Alpine struggled for pace early in the year, and Gasly did not score until the Monaco Grand Prix.
