Joey Logano Avoids Comment on Bubba Wallace Denny Hamlin Clash

Bubba Wallace recently asked NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano for his opinion on the Bubba Wallace Denny Hamlin incident that unfolded last week at Kansas Speedway, but Logano declined to comment. The collision, which happened late in the race, saw Hamlin make contact with Wallace, resulting in Wallace hitting the wall while the race concluded on October 2, 2023.

During the Kansas race, Hamlin, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, edged Wallace off the track near the finish, finishing second while Wallace secured fifth place—his fifth top-five finish this season. Logano ended up 21st, marking his worst result since Darlington. Meanwhile, Chase Elliott of Hendrick Motorsports won the race, securing his spot in the NASCAR playoffs Round of 8.

The incident drew criticism toward Hamlin for his aggressive move on Wallace, especially since Wallace drives the No. 23 Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing, a team co-owned by Hamlin. Hamlin defended his actions by stating that it wasn’t his responsibility to ensure 23XI Racing advanced into the playoffs. When Wallace later asked Logano about his thoughts during a media session at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Logano chose to stay silent on the matter.

“The thing is, like I said, 95% of the garage looked at that move and was like, ‘Oof’,”

said Bubba Wallace.

“I mean, I can ask Joey, ‘What’d you think about that move last week, Joey?’”

“I’m staying out of it bud,”

the three-time Cup Series champion replied.
