Ken Roczen Battles Illness but Shines in Arlington Race

Ken Roczen has encountered a difficult stretch in recent weeks, falling 18 points behind Hunter Lawrence despite delivering excellent performances throughout the season. Unforeseen circumstances over two consecutive Saturdays impacted his ability to secure more championship points, including a tough night in Seattle and a battle with illness during the Arlington event.

Struggles in Seattle and Illness Affect Arlington Outcome

In Seattle, Roczen was involuntarily taken down while holding third place by Hunter Lawrence, resulting in a tenth-place finish, compounded by issues with his electric start. This week, Roczen became ill, which drained his stamina in the Arlington main event. Although he led the other title contenders for approximately 15 minutes and engaged in a gripping contest with Hunter Lawrence, his energy waned toward the end of the race.

Roczen Reflects on His Performance Despite Health Challenges

Roczen openly shared his experience, saying,

“Suffer fest last night in Arlington. I got progressively more ill as the weekend neared. I did everything i could to have a good night and i am happy with the effort that i put in. I barely had like 15 min in me but i would have been out of breath walking up a flight of stairs.”

He added,

“Anyways, I salvaged what i could and i still believe it was a good night for us. Starts were good, racing was good but i had no extra to tie by any means. I’m gonna get healthy this week and i am looking forward going to Daytona this coming weekend 🤘🏽.”

Gratitude Toward Fans and Sportsmanship Highlight Roczen’s Character

Expressing thanks to his supporters, Roczen stated,

“Thanks for all the fans. It is so awesome to race in packed stadiums. Thanks everyone for showing up for us.”

Demonstrating great sportsmanship, he also congratulated Hunter Lawrence on Instagram following Lawrence’s first victory, which was celebrated by Honda.

Looking Ahead to Daytona with Optimism

Despite recent setbacks, Roczen’s skill and determination keep him firmly in contention for the championship. His competitive edge remains strong, and if he recovers fully, fans expect him to return to top form at the upcoming Daytona race. With his persistent effort and focus, Ken Roczen continues to be a significant title contender in this thrilling motocross season.
