Kyle Busch, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and a prominent figure in the sport, encountered a harsh setback during Sunday’s Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway after a collision involving Noah Gragson. After triumphing in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race on Saturday, Busch’s race ended prematurely when he slammed into the inside retaining wall, leaving him frustrated over Gragson’s role in the crash.
The incident occurred midway through stage two of the Cup race when Busch, piloting the No. 8 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, lost control following contact with Gragson’s No. 4 Ford from Front Row Motorsports. The crash heavily damaged Busch’s vehicle and forced him to finish 34th, a significant drop after his recent success.
Busch Criticizes Gragson’s Aggressive Driving After Impact
On lap 125, Busch attempted to move to the outside line after turn two and successfully guided his Chevrolet ahead of Gragson. However, Gragson’s vehicle made slight contact with Busch’s rear, causing Busch to spin down into the wall. Speaking to FOX motorsports reporter Josh Sims, Busch expressed his displeasure with Gragson’s forceful approach during the collision.
He [Gragson] never checked up. Just ran me as hard as he could to get me back going to get my momentum back going again. When a guy’s a little out of shape, you’ve got to give them a second to collect it before you just ram them, or at least try to check up and push gently. That’s kids these days,
Busch said.

Busch further emphasized that his timing was precise when Gragson collided with him, suggesting the bump was unnecessary. Despite the frustration, Busch recognized such aggressive behavior is not uncommon among competitors.
It’s just what they all do. They just all run through you. It doesn’t matter if you’re aimed the right way or not,
he added.
While Busch struggled following the crash, Gragson managed to finish 14th, marking his second consecutive top-15 placement in the Cup Series. Gragson currently holds 12th place in the Cup standings, contrasting with Busch’s 24th position.
Saturday Victory Highlights Busch’s Contrasting Weekend at EchoPark Speedway
Busch’s weekend at EchoPark Speedway displayed a study in contrasts as he dominated the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event on Saturday, securing his 68th career victory in the series by winning the Fr8 Racing 208. Despite a rain delay which shortened the race to 125 laps, Busch successfully claimed his third consecutive Truck Series win at this track behind the wheel of the No. 7 truck.
Currently in his 22nd full-time Cup Series season and fourth year with Richard Childress Racing, Busch has demonstrated his versatility by excelling in multiple NASCAR divisions. However, he has yet to return to victory lane in the Cup Series this season since his last win in June 2023 at St. Louis.
This weekend’s events underscore the volatility and unpredictability within NASCAR competition, where a driver’s fortunes can shift rapidly between triumph and tribulation. Busch’s experience highlights the fine line between success and frustration that defines the sport, especially as emerging drivers like Noah Gragson continue to challenge veterans on the track.
