Kyle Busch Warns Son Brexton: Rivalry on the Rise

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has made it clear that the competition will be fierce whenever he races against his son, Brexton. During a recent interview on PRN’s Garage Pass, Kyle did not hesitate to admit that he won’t hold back in their on-track battles, emphasizing the seriousness of their growing rivalry.

Father’s Candid Response About Racing His Son

Kyle Busch was immediate and straightforward when asked if he would push Brexton aside in the heat of competition. Laughing, he stated, “Yeah, oh yeah.” His tone mixed humor with a serious message about their racing dynamic.

He expanded on the challenges of racing side by side with Brexton, explaining how he remains conscious of his son’s position while navigating the pressure from other drivers.

“We’ve raced against each other a couple of times, and I’ve been really fair with him and really clean with him,”

Kyle said.

Still, Kyle revealed the strategic complexity involved.

“He might get stuck on the outside and I’ve got to build a gap because I see him out there. So I’ve got to build a gap for two guys with people behind me to let him in. So I’m feeling some bumpers from behind to try to help him,”

he shared. This shows Kyle’s effort to support Brexton without compromising his own race tactics.

The Beginning of a Father-Son Racing Competition

The rivalry officially began on March 26, 2025, at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina, during a 20-lap Winged Micro Feature on dirt. Fans eagerly anticipated the event as the Busch duo raced nose-to-tail, with Kyle running fifth and Brexton right behind in sixth position for much of the race.

In the final restart, Kyle executed a daring three-wide move on the outside, claiming second place before settling into third overall. Brexton finished sixth in a competitive field of 20 drivers. Joey Robinson ultimately won the race. Since then, the competitive spirit between father and son has only intensified.

Brexton’s Rapid Rise in Racing

Brexton Busch’s momentum has been remarkable. Throughout 2025, he has competed relentlessly in various classes including Bandoleros, Micro Sprints, and Legends cars on both dirt and pavement tracks. That year, he secured the INEX Bandolero Bandits National Championship, amassing 23 race victories and 28 podium finishes, contributing to over 150 career wins.

Kyle has openly expressed his pride in Brexton’s achievements. Following his son’s first Late Model test, Kyle posted on X,

“I tested a Late Model for the first time when I was 15, @brextonbusch just did it at 10.”

The comment underscores how Brexton is advancing quickly through the ranks of competitive racing.

Comparing the Busch Rivalry to Other Father-Son Racing Battles

Conversations about the Busch family rivalry often draw comparisons to Kevin Harvick and his son Keelan, highlighting parallels in father-son competition dynamics. Kyle referenced one of their memorable on-track moments to illustrate what could lie ahead with Brexton.

“Harvick tried to pull a slide job on Keelan and Keelan wasn’t having it,”

Kyle recounted on Garage Pass.

“Keelan is still ahead in the whole Harvick battle, where he’s won or come out on top more times.”

This suggests Kyle anticipates a similar trajectory with Brexton, filled with intense battles as his son grows more competitive, and that he plans to keep pushing hard when they face each other.

The Growing NASCAR Rivalry Brewing Between Father and Son

The unfolding competition between Kyle and Brexton Busch represents an emerging storyline in NASCAR, blending family dynamics with racing ambition. As Brexton continues to develop his skills and move up through various racing categories, the prospect of frequent, high-stakes encounters with his father becomes more likely.

This rivalry adds an intriguing layer to NASCAR’s evolving narrative, offering fans a unique blend of suspense, skill, and family pride. With Brexton’s rapid progress and Kyle’s relentless determination, this intense competition promises to shape their careers and captivate racing enthusiasts in the years to come.
