Lando Norris Reveals Latest on Ferrari F40 After Shocking Monaco Crash Incident

Lando Norris has shared new details about his Ferrari F40 after it was damaged in a crash on Monaco’s streets over the New Year period. The $2.5 million supercar was being driven by a friend, whose identity Norris has chosen to keep private, when the incident occurred.

The crash happened as the driver lost control through a left-hand turn on the winding roads surrounding Monte Carlo, causing the Ferrari to spin and collide with the barriers, damaging the rear of the vehicle. Videos capturing the crash quickly circulated on social media.

Damage and Repair Status of the Rare Ferrari F40

Speaking to The Sun about the state of the car’s repairs, Norris was candid, saying:

No [it is not back to normal]. It was when I was away. I wasn’t happy at all.

The damage to the rear has kept the team working on restoring the supercar, which remains a prized possession in Norris’s collection.

The Ferrari F40 entered production between 1987 and 1992, with only 1,311 units ever made. This model was the last to be personally overseen by Enzo Ferrari and was notable for being the first street-legal car to reach speeds above 200 mph.

Enzo Ferrari once expressed his vision for the F40’s creation:

I expressed a wish that we produce a car which could remind us of Le Mans and the GTO.

Lando Norris’s Passion for Classic Cars Beyond the Ferrari F40

Beyond the Ferrari, Norris also discussed other vehicles he treasures, including a Lamborghini Miura. He explained his connection to the classic car:

I bought it because I watched the Lamborghini movie. It’s a car I loved and thought it was pretty cool. That was the first decent purchase I made for a car. It’s one of the best-looking cars ever been made.

He went on to reflect on his lifelong love for cars:

I grew up loving cars. I’m lucky I get to drive them and buy them because I have always dreamed of it.

Norris added that McLarens have been the cars he’s spent the most effort personalizing, saying:

McLarens have been the ones that I’ve spent the most time making and doing special touches on. I prefer classics and older cars more than modern ones.

Recent Sightings and Future Prospects

Just before the Monaco Grand Prix, Norris was seen driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, showcasing his continued enthusiasm for high-performance vehicles. The latest update on his Ferrari F40 will be closely followed by fans and car enthusiasts alike, given the rarity and value of the car.

The repair progress and Norris’s reflections highlight the emotional and financial significance the Ferrari holds for him. As Norris prepares for upcoming races and continues to build his automotive collection, the fate of this iconic supercar remains a key point of interest for his supporters.
