Lando Norris Clears FIA Inspection After Intense Japanese Grand Prix Battle

The FIA conducted a thorough inspection of Lando Norris‘ McLaren following the Japanese Grand Prix, as part of the standard checks by Formula 1’s governing body. Despite an intense competition, Norris holds a slender lead in the championship. However, challenging Max Verstappen proved elusive during Sunday’s race, with Verstappen showcasing dominant form on the Suzuka circuit.

Upon the race’s conclusion, an official FIA document revealed that Norris’ MCL39 was randomly selected for inspection. Samples, including fuel and engine oil, were taken to assess density and viscosity. The FIA confirmed these samples met Formula 1 sporting regulations.

Such inspections are routine, with any top 10 car post-race potentially selected for evaluation. With Norris’ car conforming to regulations, his race result remained unchanged, securing him second place, just ahead of his team-mate in third.

Throughout the weekend in Japan, McLaren seemed to possess the quickest car. However, Verstappen’s exceptional qualifying lap secured pole position, complicating McLaren’s race prospects. During the race, despite apparent speed advantages, Norris struggled to overtake Verstappen. The challenge of overtaking, coupled with Verstappen’s expert race craft, maintained his lead and showcased why he remains a formidable four-time world champion.

This race marked Verstappen’s first victory of the season, despite operating a car that lags behind its competitors in pace. The 2025 season unfolds with three different winners across the initial three grands prix, intensifying the championship chase. Verstappen trails Norris by just one point, with the title race heatedly progressing.

The intense competition and strategic maneuvers at the Japanese Grand Prix underscore the gripping contest between Norris and Verstappen. Each race adds a layer of excitement to the championship narrative, with both drivers demonstrating skill and tenacity. Norris’ clearance of FIA inspections reaffirms his compliance with regulations, keeping the championship tightly contested and engaging for racing enthusiasts.
