Marco Bezzecchi Secures Multi-Year Aprilia Contract Deal

The Aprilia MotoGP team has confirmed a multi-year contract extension with Marco Bezzecchi, securing a key rider for the 2027 season well before the current championship begins. This agreement solidifies Aprilia’s lineup as it prepares for a new era under upcoming regulations, highlighting the importance of Bezzecchi’s role within the team.

Having joined Aprilia last year after three seasons with the VR46 Ducati squad, Bezzecchi was initially signed to support 2024 world champion Jorge Martin as the team’s strong second rider. However, with Martin sidelined by injuries in the previous season, Bezzecchi stepped up as the lead rider and contributed significantly to the RS-GP bike’s development.

During the past campaign, Bezzecchi earned three race victories at Silverstone, Portimao, and Valencia, showcasing his talent and consistency by finishing third overall in the championship standings. His performance quickly made him a central figure in Aprilia’s ambitions.

Aprilia’s CEO, Massimo Rivola, emphasized the urgency of retaining Bezzecchi over the off-season, revealing that rival teams had already approached the riders with offers. The contract renewal, confirmed before the 2026 pre-season testing, commits Bezzecchi to Aprilia through the transition into the 2027 regulations.

I’m extremely happy to have renewed for another two years,

Bezzecchi said.

He added,

“From the first day I signed, I had the goal in mind of building a long-term project. I’m happy to have found the support of the entire team and the whole Noale factory.

I hope I’ll be able to give them a lot of joy, as they most certainly will with me.

Intensifying Rider Movements Ahead of 2027 Season

Bezzecchi’s contract signing marks the first official rider agreement during this winter’s market shuffle, occurring amidst widespread reports about significant team changes. It has been revealed that Fabio Quartararo has agreed to join Honda, while Jorge Martin is expected to leave Aprilia and move to Yamaha, replacing Quartararo.

Additionally, promising young rider Pedro Acosta is reported to be heading to Ducati alongside veteran Marc Marquez, who aims to extend his time with the Italian manufacturer for another two years. Among current riders, only LCR’s Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira, as well as Pramac Yamaha’s Toprak Razgatlioglu, have confirmed contracts securing their seats into 2027.

The departure of Jorge Martin from Aprilia has intensified speculation that Pecco Bagnaia may also be shifting teams, as the two-time world champion faces uncertainty over his position within Ducati’s factory squad. These changes suggest a major restructuring of the MotoGP grid ahead of the next season.

Aprilia’s Strategic Commitment to Future Success

By locking in Marco Bezzecchi through 2027, Aprilia demonstrates its commitment to fostering talent and maintaining continuity amid a highly competitive environment. Bezzecchi’s growth into a race-winning leader aligns with the team’s objectives of challenging established manufacturers and capitalizing on the new technical regulations set to take effect.

This contract extension not only secures a proven performer but also sends a message of stability and ambition from the Noale-based outfit, which aims to build on recent successes while navigating the complex rider market ahead.
