Nico Hulkenberg Shares Adorable Family Moment as Summer Break Ends

Nico Hulkenberg has shared a heartwarming photo featuring himself and his daughter Noemi during the final days of the Formula 1 summer break. The German driver has been on vacation with his wife, Egle Ruskyte, and their daughter, making the most of the downtime following the Hungarian Grand Prix.

As one of only two fathers currently on the F1 grid, Hulkenberg welcomed his daughter Noemi in September 2021. Away from the high-speed world of racing, he has devoted much of his summer break to spending time with his family and enjoying moments away from the track.

Family Moments Captured Ahead of F1 Resumption in the Netherlands

On August 23, Hulkenberg posted an endearing image on his Instagram story showing him alongside his three-year-old daughter as they enjoyed the sea together. This tender moment comes just days before the F1 season restarts at the Dutch Grand Prix, scheduled from August 29 to 31.

Hulkenberg will be eager to maintain his strong performance after the break, especially as his current team, Sauber, has gained momentum throughout the 2025 season. The Swiss outfit has enhanced its competitiveness significantly, notably after introducing substantial upgrades at the Spanish Grand Prix in June.

Since those updates, Hulkenberg has scored points in four races, including achieving his first career podium finish at the British Grand Prix. His rookie teammate, Gabriel Bortoleto, has also made steady progress, earning his first F1 points at the Austrian Grand Prix and most recently finishing sixth at the Hungarian Grand Prix—his best result so far.

Helmut Marko Reveals Hulkenberg’s Near Move to Red Bull in 2021

Helmut Marko, Red Bull Racing’s senior advisor, disclosed that Nico Hulkenberg was considered for a seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2021. Talks were underway for Hulkenberg to join the Milton Keynes-based team, but Sergio Perez’s surprising win at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix ultimately changed Red Bull’s plans.

“At that time he [Hulkenberg] was, I think, a co-commentator at Servus TV, so there was already a relationship there,” said Marko, alluding to the fact that the TV station is owned by the Red Bull group, via GPblog.

“And there were the beginnings of talks, but then Perez won that race in Bahrain, I think, and because of that, everything turned in Perez’s direction,” he added.

Hulkenberg spent the 2020 to 2022 seasons out of a full-time race seat before joining Haas for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Ahead of 2025, he moved to Sauber, securing a multi-year contract as the team prepares for its transition to Audi power starting in 2026.

Both Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are expected to be key figures in Sauber’s evolution as the team shifts toward its Audi partnership, continuing to build on their gains this season.
