Shane Van Gisbergen Ties Jeff Gordon with 3rd Straight NASCAR Road Course Win

Shane Van Gisbergen equaled Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon’s record by securing his third consecutive NASCAR road course victory from the pole position at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday. Gordon originally set this standard during the 1998-99 seasons.

Dominant Run Spanning Multiple Road Courses

Van Gisbergen’s recent wins include races at Mexico, Chicago, and now Sonoma, marking three victories in the last five road course events. His trio of wins this season places him alongside Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Christopher Bell for the most road course successes this year.

Unreal guys, thank you, Van Gisbergen radioed to his team after crossing the finish line.

Playoff Standings and Team Success

With this victory and a stage win, Van Gisbergen earned six playoff points Sunday, bringing his total to 17, which ranks third in the series behind Larson’s 23 and Hamlin’s 19 points. This latest triumph also contributes to Trackhouse Racing’s impressive form, delivering four wins in the last eight races, including Ross Chastain’s victory in the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend.

Top Finishers and Upcoming Race Details

Chase Briscoe finished second, followed by Chase Elliott, who climbed to third after a late pit stop. Michael McDowell and Christopher Bell completed the top five finishers. Ross Chastain won Stage 1, while Van Gisbergen took Stage 2.

The series will resume at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 20, at Dover Motor Speedway.
