Tony Quinn, a prominent figure in Australian and New Zealand motorsports, owns several racing circuits, including Queensland Raceway and Highlands Motorsport Park. In addition to managing these tracks, he holds a notable stake in the racing team Triple Eight Race Engineering, further cementing his influence in the sport.
Simtek S951’s Return at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival
The Simtek S951, part of Quinn’s extensive collection, will feature at the 2026 Adelaide Motorsport Festival, taking place from February 28 to March 1. Developed as a direct successor to Simtek’s 1994 car, the S951 participated in the first five rounds of the 1995 Formula 1 season before the team ceased operations.
Historical Performance and Drivers of the Simtek Team
The S951 was driven by Italian racers Domenico Schiattarella and Jos Verstappen, the father of four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Despite several finishes within the top ten, the Simtek team did not earn championship points, as points were awarded only to drivers finishing in the top six at that time.
David Brabham, an Australian and son of world champion Jack Brabham, competed with Simtek during the 1994 season and achieved one top-ten finish. Throughout that year, the team cycled through five drivers following the tragic death of Roland Ratzenberger at the San Marino Grand Prix. One of those teammates, Andrea Montermini, will also participate in the festival by driving a track-only Pagani car.
Tony Quinn to Drive and Showcase the S951 in Adelaide
At the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, Tony Quinn will personally drive the Simtek S951 on the track. The vehicle will also be displayed in the Adelaide Marriott Grand Marquee on Sunday, March 1, offering attendees an up-close experience of this rare piece of Formula 1 history.
