Tyler Reddick’s NASCAR Three-Peat Faces Fierce COTA Challenge

Tyler Reddick enters Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) looking to secure a third straight win after triumphing in the first two races of the 2026 season. The 23XI Racing driver will face stiff rivalry from road course specialist Shane van Gisbergen (SVG), rookie contender Connor Zilisch, and last year’s COTA champion Christopher Bell.

SVG, regarded as one of NASCAR’s top road-course competitors, currently holds a five-race winning streak on road and street courses in the Cup Series, but COTA remains his elusive target. Last season, the New Zealander led 23 laps at Austin’s shortened layout and finished sixth, a significant advancement from his 20th-place result in 2024. Daniel Suarez, formerly SVG’s teammate at Trackhouse Racing, has commented on van Gisbergen’s advantage and unique strategy on road courses.

Connor Zilisch also boasts a notable record at COTA, having claimed the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory last year after leading 26 of 65 laps. The No. 8 Trackhouse rookie, who made his Cup Series debut at this track last season, earned the pole position for the upcoming O’Reilly race scheduled for Friday, February 27. Zilisch has made a strong impression early in the 2026 Cup season, finishing well in his initial two races.

Defending COTA winner Christopher Bell, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, consistently performs at a high level on the road course. Bell narrowly held off William Byron to win last year’s race and has several top-five finishes, including a second-place finish behind Byron in both 2024 and the 2026 season opener, as well as a third place in 2022.

Reddick Leading the Pack with Outstanding Average Finishes and Early Season Dominance

Tyler Reddick has made a powerful statement in the early 2026 season by winning two consecutive races, starting with the prestigious Daytona 500, NASCAR’s marquee event. He followed that with a gritty victory at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, overcoming obstacles such as a multi-car accident and a damaged front fender to secure the win in double overtime.

This back-to-back opening is a rare achievement, accomplished only five times previously in Cup Series history, with no driver yet managing to sweep the first three races. Reddick not only leads active drivers in average finishing position but also holds one of the best records for top-five finishes at COTA.

He won at the 2.4-mile road course in 2023 and has earned two pole positions there, including one in 2025. His lowest finish at the Circuit of The Americas was ninth during his debut in 2021. The Cup Series qualifying for the upcoming race on the shorter version of the course is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT).

Upcoming Challenges and Expectations for Reddick’s Three-Race Winning Streak

As Tyler Reddick aims to capture a historic third consecutive victory, the competition at COTA presents a formidable test with seasoned road course experts and promising new talents all vying for success. Shane van Gisbergen’s pursuit to break through at COTA, Connor Zilisch’s rapid progress as a rookie, and Christopher Bell’s consistent performance underscore the difficulty of extending Reddick’s winning streak.

This race will not only test Reddick’s skill and resilience but also influence the season’s momentum as the Cup Series campaign unfolds. How he contends with the challenging Circuit of The Americas and its competitive field could set the tone for the battles to come in NASCAR’s 2026 season.
