Weeks before Rookie was admitted to the ICU, Alexa DeLeon Reddick, Tyler’s wife, noticed alarming symptoms despite repeated pediatric visits. Trusting her maternal instincts, she shared on social media photos of their infant son with an oxygen tube and revealed that early signs of heart failure had gone initially undetected. Alexa appealed for prayers, expressing her belief that with faith, medical expertise, and the support of their loved ones, Rookie could overcome this health crisis.

Just before the critical Round of 12 elimination race at Charlotte Roval, Reddick gave a candid update on Rookie’s condition. Reflecting on his son’s health, he said,

“I’ve never seen him happier. His color looks good. He’s gained weight. A lot of things are going well. But yeah, all that being said, some of the tougher moments are definitely ahead.”

Recognizing the ongoing challenges, Reddick added,

“We’re definitely not in the clear. There’s some things that we’ve got to get through first. So, on one hand, I’m really happy, and just it makes me feel great that he’s doing much better right now.”

He further noted,

“But certainly there’s there’s some things that have to we have we have some hurdles we have to get through first before we’re, even thinking about leaving the hospital or thinking about what comes next,”

underscoring the uncertain road ahead.
