Why Lewis Hamilton Delayed Charles Leclerc’s Wedding Gift

Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver, recently tied the knot with Alexandra Saint Mleux in a private ceremony held in Monaco on February 28th, just before the new racing season began. Traditionally, wedding gifts are exchanged among close friends and family to celebrate such milestones, but Leclerc’s teammate Lewis Hamilton has yet to present his gift, sparking curiosity about the delay.

After a surprising switch to Ferrari in 2025 following 12 years at Mercedes, Hamilton has developed a respectful partnership with Leclerc. Despite a tense moment at the Miami Grand Prix in 2025, where Hamilton requested to overtake Leclerc, their relationship remained intact without resentment or conflict.

Leclerc affirmed this amicable rapport, stating,

“There’s no bad feelings with Lewis, not at all.”

Reasons Behind Hamilton’s Late Wedding Gift

Although it might seem the two drivers are not close enough for timely wedding gifts, Hamilton has clarified that he plans to give Leclerc a present eventually, just not immediately. The seven-time world champion admitted to Formula 1 that he tends to procrastinate when it comes to gift-giving, especially since he has never been married himself.

Hamilton explained,

“I’ve never been married, so I definitely haven’t given him any advice. I haven’t gotten a wedding gift yet,”

and added,

“I usually delay myself when it comes to gifts like that, so maybe in six months, I’ll give it to him.”

Details About Leclerc’s Private Ceremony and Upcoming Celebrations

Leclerc described the wedding as an intimate event attended only by family, chosen for its privacy and simplicity. The couple plans to host a larger celebration with friends at a later date, which will require substantial time to organize properly.

He said,

“It was family only, and it was very small and secret in a way, which we really enjoyed. We’ll do another one with all of our closest friends in actually quite a bit of time, [it will] take some time to organise it properly.”

Recently, the couple was spotted enjoying moments together, even pictured beside a classic 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. Now, Leclerc is preparing to return his attention to the 2026 Formula 1 season opener in Australia.

Season Outlook for Leclerc and Hamilton

Both drivers are eager to move past the struggles of the 2025 season, which ended without either securing a Grand Prix victory. With a fresh season ahead and the personal milestones behind them, Hamilton and Leclerc will be looking to strengthen their on-track performance and teamwork.
