Will Power is entering a new chapter in his IndyCar career for the 2026 season, shifting from the #12 Team Penske Chevrolet to the #26 Andretti Global Honda team. This move marks a significant change after 15 seasons with Team Penske, as Power embraces fresh opportunities with Andretti Global.
His new car features a vivid lime green and black livery, designed to match the Andretti Global team colors in the FIA Formula E World Championship, and proudly displays sponsorship from TWG AI.
Adapting Quickly to a New Environment
Though Power spent many years at Penske, he says the transition to Andretti Global feels smooth despite the changes. He noted that his daily routine remains focused and professional, emphasizing the common goal of maximizing car performance with the help of engineers and Honda simulators.
“Now that I’ve got to work, it’s just business as normal,”
Power explained.
He reflected on the logistical shift, having previously lived near the Penske shop, which made visiting simple. Now settled near the Andretti Global shop in Indianapolis, he feels comfortable and settled in his new surroundings.
“But I have a place here in Indy now, which is about the same or very close to the shop. So when I’m here, it’s the same deal. It feels normal.”
Reasons Behind Leaving Team Penske
Power had the option to extend his contract with Team Penske for another season but chose to move on. He cited his desire for long-term stability and new challenges as key factors influencing his decision to switch teams.

“I just love competing. I love doing this. It’s really enjoyable,”
Power said.
“I’ve got a ton of experience. It would be a pity to stop when you’re really still on top of your game.
He highlighted the difficulty of maintaining success in IndyCar over many years, noting his ability to continue winning races and earning pole positions as motivation to keep racing.
Respect for Team Penske and Roger Penske
Power expressed strong appreciation for Roger Penske and the entire organization for their role in his career, acknowledging the offer to return for another year was a respectful gesture, even if the timing felt late for his plans.
“Roger gave me a great career. He offered me a year. It wasn’t like, ‘you’re not coming back’. He offered me to come back,”
Power added.
He underscored his gratitude for his long tenure at Penske while expressing eagerness to prove himself with Andretti Global, focusing on winning races rather than just rivalries.
“Yeah, tremendous respect for Roger and the whole organisation. I’d definitely like to beat him but I want to beat everyone. We’ve got to go out and win races.”
Looking Ahead to the Upcoming IndyCar Season
The 2026 IndyCar campaign will launch on the streets of St Petersburg between February 27 and March 1, presenting Power with a fresh platform to demonstrate his skills with his new team. Fans and observers alike will watch keenly as Power and Andretti Global pursue victories in the coming year.
