“You can smell the fuel, you feel the wind rush by as the cars go by,”
said Don Webb, capturing the thrilling race day energy.
Palou Reflects on Strategy and Teamwork Behind Victory
Palou credited a combination of strong teamwork, effective strategy, and a bit of luck for his win. Prior to the race, he took time to sign autographs for fans, including one who was attending their first of four races this season. After the race, Palou expressed satisfaction with how the event unfolded.
“There’s a lot of stuff that needs to happen for you to win an IndyCar race nowadays,
Palou explained.
You need to have the car, the team, the crew, like you need to have the perfect strategy, some luck, and we got everything today.”
He also commented on the early season momentum generated by the victory.
“It’s been a tremendous start of the season, very early on, but we could not have started on a better note, so yeah, I’m super happy, super pumped, and we’re back,”
Palou said, reflecting on his successful performance.

Looking Ahead: Next Challenges for Palou and Team
Despite celebrating the win, Palou emphasized the need to quickly turn focus toward the upcoming race in Phoenix, scheduled for the following Saturday. He acknowledged that while victories are rare and should be enjoyed, consistent preparation remains essential for maintaining competitive momentum.
“I mean, it’s going to give us some momentum, but at the same time, we have another race in a couple days, like, it’s coming up quick so, although we need to enjoy this one, because wins don’t come very often, we need to start focusing on Phoenix as soon as we wake up tomorrow,”
he stated.
Significance of Palou’s Consecutive Wins for the IndyCar Season
Palou’s back-to-back victories at St. Petersburg highlight both his skill and his team’s strength early in the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season. This powerful start positions him as a strong contender for the championship, energizing fans and establishing confidence for the demanding races ahead. With next week’s Phoenix race quickly approaching, Palou and his team face the challenge of sustaining their winning form in pursuit of further success.
