Alex Rins Screams in Frustration Over Yamaha 2026 Bike Test

During the recent Buriram MotoGP test, Alex Rins visibly struggled with Yamaha’s new 2026 M1 bike, leading to a public display of frustration. The Spanish rider’s difficulties reflect broader concerns within the Yamaha team about the performance of their redesigned machine meant to compete for the upcoming season.

Yamaha’s shift to a V4 engine for 2026 was intended to bring parity with rival manufacturers after a disappointing 2025 season. However, the new M1 has failed to show meaningful improvements compared to the previous inline-four model, leaving riders uneasy about their prospects.

Behind the Scenes: How Alex Rins Managed His Anger During Testing

Following visible frustration from teammate Fabio Quartararo, Alex Rins revealed his personal way of coping with setbacks at the Buriram test. According to Neil Morrison from the Paddock Pass Podcast, Rins would retreat alone into the rider cabins at the circuit after every run to vent his frustration by screaming aloud.

“More than the performance, it was the body language of Fabio Quartararo, Alex Rins, and Toprak Razgatlioglu throughout the weekend that indicated it was a really, really tough situation,”

Morrison explained.

He continued,

“My favourite quote from the weekend was when Alex Rins said he was getting rid of all of his anger and frustration by locking himself in the rider cabins they have at the back of the circuit after each run and locking the door and screaming. Which was his way of getting all that angst out.”

Which is not really a sign of an entirely happy camp.

Future of Yamaha’s Team Dynamics as Quartararo Plans Exit

As the 2026 pre-season winds down, reports indicate that Fabio Quartararo will depart Yamaha at the end of the year to join Honda on a two-year contract starting in 2027. This impending move has shifted the internal team focus and opened discussions about the future direction of Yamaha’s bike development.

Alex Rins expressed hope that with Quartararo’s departure, Yamaha will place greater weight on his feedback in shaping the next generation of the M1. He noted,

“Yamaha are very focused on Fabio,”

and admitted that the 2025 M1 was closely tailored to Quartararo’s preferences.

Rins is eager to contribute more substantially to the 2027 Yamaha M1 project to help improve its competitiveness and escape the frustrations seen during recent tests.

Significance of Rins’ Frustrations for Yamaha’s Upcoming Season

The visible tensions surrounding both Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo highlight the challenges Yamaha faces in adapting to new technical regulations and performance expectations for 2026. The uncooperative nature of the current M1 risks further hampering the team’s results and rider morale.

How Yamaha responds to rider feedback, including Rins’ vocal frustrations behind the scenes, will be crucial in determining the manufacturer’s chances of success. With Quartararo leaving and Rins demanding greater influence, the 2027 bike development phase presents a critical opportunity for Yamaha to reset and regain competitiveness in MotoGP.
