Jesse Ekene Iwuji was born on August 12, 1987, in Carrollton, Texas. He grew up in a family that emphasized education and athletics, with his parents, Sebastian and Enderline, immigrating to the United States from Nigeria in the 1980s. Iwuji attended Hebron High School, where he excelled in both football and track, earning recognition as a two-star recruit in football. His athletic prowess led him to receive a scholarship to the United States Naval Academy, where he continued to develop his skills in football and track and field.
Iwuji enrolled at the Naval Academy on June 30, 2005, and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree. During his time at the academy, he played as a free safety on the Navy Midshipmen football team and was a member of the track and field team, competing in various sprint events. After graduation, he served as a surface warfare officer in the Navy, which included deployments and active duty service.

While Iwuji’s interest in motorsports began during a visit to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in 2006, it wasn’t until after his military service that he began racing seriously. He started drag racing in a Chrysler 300 and later transitioned to stock cars. In 2014, Iwuji tested a stock car for Performance P-1 Motorsports, marking the beginning of his formal racing career.
