Patrick Charles Staropoli was born on November 10, 1989, in Plantation, Florida. He is the son of Nick Staropoli Jr. and Arlene Staropoli and has a sister named Devon. Staropoli initially aimed to become a motorsports engineer and attended Harvard University, where he majored in neurobiology after switching from engineering. He graduated in 2012 with summa cum laude honors and participated in a club that conducted eye checks for disadvantaged communities. After Harvard, he continued his education at the University of Miami, specializing in ophthalmology.

Staropoli began his racing career at the age of 13, starting with go-karts in Naples, Florida.
