Formula 1 Extends Barcelona-Spa Race Deal in Surprise Twist

On February 17, 2026, Hockey India revealed the selection of a 24-member Indian Men’s Hockey Team set to compete in the Hobart segment of the FIH Men’s Pro League 2025–26. Scheduled from February 20 to 25 at the Tasmania Hockey Centre in Hobart, this edition will feature India racing against Spain and host nation Australia. The team aims to showcase determination and skill as it prepares for this crucial phase of the tournament.

Team Composition Blends Experience and Emerging Talent

Following the Rourkela leg, where India faced Belgium and Argentina, the squad now shifts focus to Hobart with a balance of seasoned players and promising newcomers. Hardik Singh, a two-time Olympic Bronze Medallist from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, continues his leadership as team captain. Notably, young players Amandeep Lakra and Manmeet Singh, both making their senior debuts during the Rourkela segment, remain part of the team. However, Harmanpreet Singh is absent due to personal reasons.

The goalkeeping responsibilities will be shared by Suraj Karkera and Mohith Honnenahalli Shashikumar. The defensive lineup features experienced names like Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sanjay, and Sumit, alongside younger defenders including Amandeep Lakra, Yashdeep Siwach, and Poovanna Chandura Boby.

Strong Midfield and Attack Lineup to Bolster India’s Chances

In the midfield, captain Hardik Singh is supported by Sanjay, Vivek Sagar Prasad, and Raj Kumar Pal, while Rajinder Singh, Manmeet Singh, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, and Vishnu Kant Singh provide additional depth. The forward pack is spearheaded by accomplished players such as Mandeep Singh, Abhishek, and Shilanand Lakra. Maninder Singh returns to the team after previous appearances in the Hero Asia Cup 2022 and the FIH Hockey Pro League seasons 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Emerging talents Angad Bir Singh, who debuted for the senior squad last year, along with Araijeet Singh Hundal and Aditya Arjun Lalage, complete the attacking lineup aiming to make a notable impact during the Hobart leg.

Coach Emphasizes Learning and Preparation for Future Challenges

Indian Men’s Hockey Team Chief Coach Craig Fulton reflected on the team’s recent performances and future prospects:

“After a disappointing four matches in Rourkela – where the results didn’t go our way – we’ve learned some good lessons and made some notable improvements. We capped three players in the process, and it was quite exciting to see that side of the squad develop. Going into the Hobart leg, we’re aiming for improved performances and looking to finalise our squad for the World Cup and the Asian Games.”
