Inside Lando Norris’ Family Support That Fuels His F1 Wins

Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, well-known for his racing success in 2024 and 2025, credits much of his progress to the strong support from his family. His parents, Adam Norris and Cisca Wauman, have consistently been by his side throughout his career, encouraging him as he competes at various Grand Prix events worldwide. This support network has been a key element behind his breakthrough victories, including his first-ever Formula 1 win at the Miami Grand Prix in May 2024.

Adam Norris and Cisca Wauman: Origins and Family Life

Lando Norris was born in Bristol in 1999, where his father Adam hails from, while his mother Cisca is originally from Belgium. The couple later settled their family in Somerset, where they raised four children. Beyond Lando, the Norris family includes his brother Oliver and two younger sisters, Flo and Cisca, making for a tight-knit household that values both athleticism and mutual support.

The Norris Siblings: Diverse Talents and Achievements

Oliver Norris, like Lando, pursued a career in karting until his retirement in 2014. He married Savannah Norris in 2022, and together they have two daughters, Mila and Athena. Meanwhile, Lando’s sisters excel in equestrian sports—Flo competes internationally in disciplines such as dressage, eventing, hunters, and equitation, while the youngest sister, Cisca, also follows a path in horseback riding, reflecting the family’s shared passion for athletics.

Adam Norris’ Business Career and Impact

Before focusing on family life and supporting Lando’s racing ambitions, Adam Norris built an impressive corporate career. By 36, he had retired from Hargreaves Lansdown, a company that became Britain’s top direct-to-consumer pension provider during his tenure. After the firm went public, Adam chose to step down and dedicate more time to his family while continuing entrepreneurial ventures, including founding the electric scooter brand Pure Electric.

Addressing his motivation behind business pursuits, Adam said,

“So, while I achieved financial success at a very young age, I realized that I get more pleasure from building something than I do from spending money. I enjoy building things and I enjoy solving problems,”

he shared.

Pure Electric, established in 2018, aims to transform personal transport with eco-friendly scooters that operate in multiple countries, including the UK, France, Belgium, Spain, and others.

Cisca Wauman’s Role as Lando’s Biggest Cheerleader

Lando Norris does not shy away from acknowledging the emotional and practical support he receives from his mother. During an appearance on the Made with Love podcast, Lando expressed heartfelt gratitude to Cisca for her lifelong encouragement, saying,

“I want to give a massive thank you for all the times you dealt with me, and all the help and support that you gave me when I was a little boy to make me into the person that I am now,”

and added,

“Also, for supporting me in the job that I do … and for making me the guy that I am today. I think I’m a good guy. I try to be and a lot of that is because of you. So thanks, mom!”

Lando’s First Wins Mark Milestones for the Whole Family

Lando’s first Formula 1 victory in Miami represented an emotional turning point not only for him but for his entire family. Although Adam and Cisca were unable to attend that particular race, they felt the significance of his breakthrough deeply. Adam reflected on the journey, saying,

“It’s been amazing. … It’s been a long time, but it’s there. We got there,”

and recognizing the struggle behind the success, he added,

“People don’t realize that there’s a lot of bad days just as well as good days. We’re five years in and you think, ‘OK, this is it. It’s too much, too many weekends away from home, away from your family.’ But it makes it all worth it.”

The family witnessed more celebrations in 2025 as Lando began the season with a win at the Australian Grand Prix and later triumphed at his home British Grand Prix. Following the British win, his mother expressed her joy simply and warmly:

“I love you so much. Enjoy. Enjoy,”

she told Lando.

How Family Values Help Keep Lando Grounded

Though Lando admits to growing up with advantages, including professional management from a young age, he credits his parents with instilling humility and a sense of responsibility. On the High Performance podcast, Lando explained,

“There’s many things that my dad has given to me, or I’ll say, invested in me. But it’s an investment, not a given. I need to pay back that investment and reward him, and use what he’s given me to show that it’s all been useful and not a waste of time.”

He also highlighted,

“One thing that my mom and dad have done very well is keep me grounded,”

continuing,

“[They help me] live a life as normally as possible [and] not get carried away in any way.”
