Isack Hadjar has expressed that his recent promotion to the senior Red Bull Formula 1 team feels more like a continuation than a completely new chapter. After impressing during his rookie year in 2025 with Racing Bulls, Hadjar was elevated to race alongside Max Verstappen, highlighting the team’s confidence in his potential.
Hadjar’s Longstanding Connection with Red Bull
Having joined Red Bull’s junior academy in 2021, Hadjar steadily climbed through the ranks while maintaining close ties with the senior outfit. His prior involvement in various practice sessions and tests with the team meant he was already familiar with the environment and personnel before making the full step up.
“It didn’t really feel like jumping into a new team, to be honest,”
Hadjar said, reflecting on the transition.
“I’ve been doing FP1s for this team already, back in 2023 and 2024. I’ve been signed in 2021.”
He noted the value of working alongside engineers he already knew well, adding,
“At the end of the day, I’m working with engineers that I’ve known for a while now. I’ve been on simulator support sessions with them for the team. It made the transition a lot easier.”
Reuniting with Leadership and Preparing for the Season Ahead
Hadjar will again work under Laurent Mekies, marking their second collaboration after Mekies’ own move to Red Bull in mid-2025. This continuity seems to provide a reassuring foundation as Hadjar enters his second Formula 1 season.
He expressed optimism about their renewed partnership:
“Having Laurent as a leader is great. I made my debut in F1 with him, stepping into my second season with him is good.”
Hadjar summarized his feelings on the promotion by stating,
“It’s nice, it’s been very smooth, very lucky.”
Significance of Close Integration for Hadjar’s Future
Hadjar’s strong familiarity with Red Bull’s operations and personnel reduces the typical adjustment challenges faced by newcomers, suggesting a promising start to his career at the highest level. His seamless promotion also reflects the team’s commitment to nurturing talent from within, potentially positioning him as a key figure alongside established drivers in upcoming seasons. As the 2026 Formula 1 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Hadjar to see how this foundation translates into competitive performance.
