Kyle Busch Claims Pole Position for Daytona 500 Qualifying

Kyle Busch earned the pole position for the upcoming Daytona 500 after recording the fastest lap during the second round of qualifying on Wednesday night in Daytona, Florida. Chase Briscoe will start alongside him on the front row, setting the stage for Sunday’s prestigious NASCAR Cup Series race. This early positioning offers Busch a strong advantage as the competition for the Daytona 500 intensifies.

Open Drivers Earn Spots in the Daytona 500 Field

Corey Heim became the first open driver to qualify for the Daytona 500, clocking a time of 49.138 seconds in his first Cup Series-level attempt at this event. This milestone marks a significant opportunity for Heim, who could potentially contend for a more permanent ride in the season ahead. Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic highlighted Heim’s promising prospects, suggesting he might push for Riley Herbst’s seat with a strong campaign.

Following close behind was Justin Allgaier, securing the second open qualifying spot with a lap time of 49.201 seconds. Allgaier returns to the Daytona 500 with prior experience, having competed in the race three times previously, including just last year.

Remaining open drivers Anthony Alfredo, B.J. McLeod, Casey Mears, Corey LaJoie, Chandler Smith, and J.J. Yeley are battling for the final two spots, which will be determined during Thursday’s Duel races at Daytona.
