They’ve all been different incidents, so you cannot really compare these things. But I think we all don’t want that to happen, but it happened, so this is something that we need to investigate.
Verstappen added,
At the other end also, I’m just happy that no one got injured because with these cars, if you hit someone, it’s not great. But yeah, I think it was super clear what happened there, so it’s not much more for me to add.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner attributed the mishap to “human error” and assured that the team would learn from the experience. The penalty not only deprived Verstappen of six valuable sprint race points but also dashed his opportunity to challenge the McLarens for the lead.
The collision had further consequences for Antonelli, who was forced to interrupt his race to return to the pits a second time to switch to medium tyres after missing his initial stop.
