MotoGP Kuala Lumpur Street Show Thrills 20,000 Fans Under Towers

Following last year’s launch in Bangkok, the MotoGP Kuala Lumpur street show aimed to connect the championship closely with its supporters, particularly within growing Asian markets. The event took place around the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, which were specially lit to frame the thrilling activities and highlight the city’s skyline.

Rider Participation and Team Activities Ahead of the Show Run

Friday was dedicated to official team photos, although several riders, including Fermín Aldeguer and Fabio Quartararo, were absent due to injury and participated only through video messages. Augusto Fernández stepped in to replace Quartararo on Saturday, while Jorge Martín, despite being injured, remained present to support his team during test sessions.

Excitement Builds with the MotoGP Show Run in Downtown Kuala Lumpur

The peak of the event was Saturday evening’s MotoGP Show Run, which turned the city center into a race track featuring dedicated pits and lanes for the eleven competing teams. Even brief rain did not lessen the crowd’s enthusiasm. One memorable moment included a stoppie contest between Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu, where Miller joked,

Toprak does stoppies better than me,

revealing his admiration and extending encouragement for Razgatlioglu’s transition to MotoGP.

Teams Parade and Messages of Resilience Highlight the Evening

The teams appeared on stage in reverse championship order over a show lasting more than three hours. Solo rider Álex Márquez was spotlighted, while injured Aldeguer communicated via video, promising,

I’ll be back on the bike soon, stronger than before.

The event culminated with the official Ducati team’s appearance, led by Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia, who received a superstar welcome. Márquez said,

The most important thing is to get people excited,

and Bagnaia added,

I will try to make life difficult for Marc. I had very positive feelings in the tests.

Marc further expressed,

After some difficult years, we are now experiencing a great moment. This year I will fight with my teammate, my brother, and everyone else.

Festivities Close with Music, Fireworks, and a Concert Celebration

The event concluded with a lively musical performance by the Irish band The Script and spectacular fireworks, signaling the start of a MotoGP season filled with promise and excitement for fans and riders alike.
