Patrick Staropoli, a respected retina surgeon and accomplished racer, has been named the full-time driver of the No. 48 Big Machine Racing Chevrolet for the 2026 season, replacing Nick Sanchez. Staropoli’s Racing Path and Key Achievements
Staropoli’s diverse background combines medical excellence with a determined pursuit of racing success. Earlier in 2024, he made his debut in the O’Reilly Auto Parts (formerly Xfinity) Series with Sam Hunt Racing, competing in four events and earning a personal best finish of 16th at Martinsville. In addition to these starts, he participated in four NASCAR Truck Series races this season, again achieving a top finish of 15th at Martinsville.
For 2025, Staropoli’s schedule is set to include six ARCA races, in which he has already demonstrated consistency, having logged three finishes inside the top ten. His racing pedigree also includes a notable ARCA West victory at Irwindale in 2014. Staropoli’s initial breakthrough came in 2013 after winning the PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge, which secured him a development driver position with Michael Waltrip Racing.
