Scott Dixon and Giampaolo Dallara will be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame in a ceremony scheduled for May 21, 2026, in Speedway, Indiana. This recognition celebrates their extraordinary contributions to motorsports, highlighting their lasting impact at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and beyond.
Selection Process and Recognition
The induction of Dixon and Dallara follows a thorough selection by a national panel composed of 150 journalists, drivers, industry experts, historians, and current Hall of Famers. Their unanimous decision reflects the duo’s prominence and sustained excellence in their respective fields.
Michael Good, president of the IMS Museum, said,
“Scott Dixon and Giampaolo Dallara are at the very top of their respective fields. Their consistency, skill, and unwavering determination have led to success not only at Indianapolis Motor Speedway but in every aspect of their careers.”
He added,
“The Museum is honored to be the steward of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame, and we’re thrilled to add these two deserving inductees.”
Scott Dixon’s Legendary Career Achievements
Scott Dixon, a New Zealand native, stands out as one of the most accomplished drivers in IndyCar history. He has secured six NTT IndyCar Series championships and claimed victory at the 2008 Indianapolis 500. Additionally, Dixon has earned the pole position five times at the iconic race. With 59 career wins, he has demonstrated remarkable consistency, winning races across 21 consecutive seasons.
Reflecting on the honor, Dixon shared,
“It is a huge honor to be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. It’s such a historic venue in motorsports and means so much to me, having raced here for so many years now. Honestly, it feels a little surreal as I’m still focused on winning here in May. It’s the competition that drives me, even in year 25 with Chip Ganassi Racing. The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest sporting event in the world, and another win here would be incredible, so that’s the goal for 2026.”
Giampaolo Dallara’s Engineering Excellence and Influence
Giampaolo Dallara has shaped the engineering side of racing through his innovative contributions. Before founding Dallara Automobili da Competizione in 1972, Dallara worked with prestigious automotive and racing companies including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Williams. His company initially built cars for Formula 1 and Formula 2 before beginning IndyCar chassis production in 1997. Since 2008, Dallara has been the exclusive chassis supplier for the IndyCar Series.

Expanding his influence into the U.S., Dallara opened the Dallara Experience Hub in Speedway, Indiana, in 2012, where chassis for various racing series are assembled. On his induction, he remarked,
“Being inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame is truly an honor. The Indianapolis 500 has inspired me since the very beginning of my career, and our journey in the United States has been built on passion, innovation, and extraordinary people.”
He continued,
“I am grateful to the teams, drivers, and partners who have trusted our work for so many years. This recognition belongs to all of them as much as it does to me.”
Additional Honors for Community Service
The announcement also highlighted that the Sexton Award for Distinguished Service will be presented to Jim and Jon Voyles, recognizing their dedication to community efforts and contributions to the success of the IMS Museum.
