Formula 1 champions McLaren revealed their 2026 car livery during a launch event in Bahrain just before preseason testing resumed this week. The team had initially used an all-black interim design during testing in Spain last month but showcased their full race colors on Monday.
Design Emphasizes McLaren’s Papaya Heritage with Modern Touches
The updated livery retains McLaren’s signature papaya and black theme but introduces a more prominent papaya orange, reminiscent of the team’s classic F1 cars. Zak Brown, McLaren’s CEO, explained that the choice honors the team’s championship-winning heritage.

Team Lineup and Championship Ambitions for 2026
McLaren secured both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2025, with Lando Norris capturing the drivers’ crown. Norris will return in 2026 alongside Oscar Piastri, who finished third last year after leading much of the season. The team faces new chassis and power unit regulations as they aim to defend their titles.

With two weeks of testing scheduled in Bahrain, Zak Brown expressed cautious optimism about McLaren’s prospects this season. He refrained from making definitive predictions at this early stage but indicated a competitive outlook.

The top four teams all seemed very competitive, so very early days, but there are indications that we will be strong.
